Tangled Wood Pet Policy
Guidelines for Guests Accompanied by Pets
Introduction
At The Tangled Wood, we understand that pets are an important part of many of our guests’ lives. We aim to create an environment that is welcoming, safe, and comfortable for all our patrons, whether they are accompanied by their furry companions or not. This Pet Policy outlines the guidelines regarding the presence of pets within our restaurant premises, ensuring a harmonious dining experience for guests, staff, and pets alike.
General Policy
- We welcome well-behaved pets in our designated outdoor dining areas.
- Service animals, as defined by provincial and federal law, are permitted in all public areas of the restaurant, including indoors.
- Pets are not permitted inside the indoor dining area, with the exception of service animals.
- All pets must remain under the direct control of their owners at all times.
- Pets must be kept on a short, non-retractable leash (no longer than 6 feet) or in a secure carrier.
Pet Owner Responsibilities
- Pet owners are responsible for the behavior and well-being of their pets during their visit.
- Pet owners must ensure their pets are sociable and do not display aggressive behavior towards other patrons, pets, or staff.
- Owners must clean up after their pets immediately and dispose of waste in designated receptacles.
- Pets must not be placed on tables, chairs, or other restaurant furnishings.
- Owners must ensure their pets are properly vaccinated and in good health before visiting the restaurant.
Health and Safety Guidelines
- Pets showing signs of illness, including but not limited to coughing, vomiting, or diarrhea, are not permitted on the premises.
- Pets must be free from parasites (fleas, ticks, etc.) and be groomed to avoid excessive shedding.
- The restaurant reserves the right to request proof of current vaccinations at its discretion.
- A water bowl will be available upon request for pets in outdoor seating areas.
- No restaurant-provided food may be given to pets, except for specially designated pet treats, if available.
Service Animals
We comply fully with all applicable laws regarding service animals. Service animals are welcome in all areas of the restaurant where customers are normally allowed. For the purposes of this policy, a service animal is one that has been trained to perform specific tasks for a person with a disability.
- Staff may not ask about the nature of a guest’s disability.
- Staff may, when it is not obvious what service an animal provides, ask if the animal is a service animal required because of a disability and what work or task the animal has been trained to perform.
- Service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices.
Restricted Areas and Restrictions
- Pets are not permitted in food preparation areas at any time.
- Certain outdoor events may restrict pet access due to space constraints or event-specific policies.
- The restaurant reserves the right to limit the number of pets at any given time based on capacity and safety considerations.
- If a pet is disruptive, aggressive, or poses a health or safety risk, the restaurant reserves the right to ask the owner to remove the animal from the premises.
Etiquette and Best Practices
- Pet owners should be considerate of other guests, especially those who may have allergies or fear of animals.
- Pets should be kept close to their owners and not allowed to roam or approach other tables without invitation.
- Loud barking, whining, or other disruptive behaviors should be addressed immediately or the pet may need to be removed.
- We recommend visiting during off-peak hours if your pet is not accustomed to crowds or noise.
Liability
- Pet owners are fully responsible for any injury, damage, or loss caused by their pets while on restaurant property.
- The restaurant is not liable for any loss or injury to pets incurred on the premises.
- Owners agree to indemnify and hold harmless [Restaurant Name], its employees, and agents for any claims arising from their pet’s behavior during their visit.
Pet-Friendly Amenities
- Water bowls are available for pets upon request.
- Designated pet waste stations are provided in outdoor areas for your convenience.
- During select events, we may offer pet treats or host special “Yappy Hour” gatherings for pets and their owners.
Communication and Feedback
- We value feedback from our guests and encourage suggestions for improving our pet-friendly services.
- Please contact our management team with any questions or concerns regarding this policy.
- All complaints related to pet behavior or pet-related incidents will be investigated promptly and handled with discretion.
Policy Modifications
- This policy may be updated at any time to reflect changes in local regulations, safety guidelines, or restaurant operations.
- Updates to the policy will be communicated through our website and posted at the restaurant entrance.
